1.
His body is withered and weary weakness could be felt all the way to the bones this vessel is all that stands between him and the storm unsure of whether he can make it through this very night white knuckles grip the sides / Pounded by the waves and the sky the brine stings at his eyes and yet becomes indistinguishable from this pain that he sheds now the bellow of thunder cracks through the cacophony all around him even this choir can't match the fervor residing in his mind / And through it all he yearns to get out and through it all he longs to return / In two halves splintered wood in two halves a broken mast in two halves shattered glass in two halves the bending bow / The creaking the snapping the pounding is harrowing / Beneath the eye of the storm clutched by fierce watery jaws he pressed forth in darkness with hope in his heart desperate to return to all he had known his life his love he abandoned and for some greater good? or only to be battered bludgeoned betrayed by the black brine

Black Tides 11:52
The fear and regret are all he understands right now his wife and his child an entire life he left behind if only he could be back in the comfort of their arms he longs to be back there but will he come back home alive / Sinking beneath the waves / This journey has lasted months and great distance now he turns away / These memories of you and I will be swept away in the undertow choked beneath the churning drowned and forgotten in this black tide / The tide will swallow and consume us all

The waves sent a chill throughout his body what ominous fate awaits him in the gloom below hordes of eyes and teeth tentacles abound they threaten to ensnare dragging down in the murk / Into her arms he is swept into her arms he's back home and from her arms now he's torn / Let the air out you won't need to breathe here below let every particle escape flood inside your dead lungs fill the space with water come back up breathe back in / Coming back up he gasps for air, for anything
5.
Now this truth he held so dear became a poison to his fragile mind he finds himself broken the beacon he followed for so long caused him to lose the clarity and focus he needs if he wants to live / Upon the sea a most unforgiving home / He is unaware of where he's headed but judging from the angles of the stars it must be westward / We'll sink down moving further out to sea moving away from everything / Alone adrift above the abyss clinging to life by a piece of flotsam will he ever touch the shore or is he doomed to stray forever
