Train of Mind
06:39
|
|||
The hills and trees keep floating by
A handful houses do the same
A single lamp post caught my eye
Before it whirls out of the frame
And faceless people, large and small
You see them bobbing to and fro
I do not know their stories at all
Nor where and when they want to go
As for myself, I sit here on this train
I’ve been here since my childhood’s dawn
If I don’t get off soon I’ll go insane
My faith is leaving me, can’t you see how I am torn
I’ve had my chances many a time
To leave this dusty coach behind
But fear has always denied me to climb
Down on the platform; free of mind
I share this coach with people so strange
They never speak nor bat an eye
Their stiff demeanour never change
Their faces blurred; I wonder why
Then sounds of steps are heard down the aisles
It’s the inspector on his round
He stamps my ticket without a smile
and tells me where my soul is bound
I want to scream: ‘I don’t belong in here
You have to let me off this train'
But anger never overcome my fear
So I am stuck aboard, oh sweet lord, that much is plain
Still after all the years that have passed
my dreams keep playing scenes for me
Of riding down a hillside real fast
Of one sweet morning to be free

The Cottage of Lost Play
08:03
|
|||
Seething waters
Demand I return to shore
Howlin’ northern winds
Ask me what I am looking for
Lightning strikes above
Tries to set my good ship ablaze
There’s no rest for me at all
No end to the troubles I face
Still the whispering Song drives me on
Still its spell keeps me moving
How I miss You now that I’m gone
Now it seems I feel the Gods reproving
Never give my thoughts to the Sea
Never loose my torchlight
Will I ever know I'm free?
Can I ever win this tough fight?
Soon I’ll get there
To the loneliest Isle on Earth
Leaving ship behind
To seek out the song and mirth
Through the forest
to the Cottage of Lost Play
I’ll present my errantry
And the reason for coming to stay
