LYD - LYD (1970 us, rough heavy acid garage psych
The legend said that the band was massively using LSD and other psychedelic substances, to create a psycho garage...guitar psych with intense basement atmosphere, long fuzz excursions, and wasted junkie lyrics...opening track is unbelievably killer..lots of crunchy, fuzzy guitars.
Los Angeles' extremely obscure Lyd formed in the late '60s, and combined the era's prevalent psychedelic and garage rock influences with the nascent hard rock style. Just three or four copies of this band's acetate were cut originally, but it has been "reissued" several times since. The album, whilst short, is well worth seeking out for lots of superb psychedelic guitar work.
